Vegas has a ton of flight options plus the airport never feels that busy. It makes the city unique since you can try food from all over the nation.
They are all over town and part of the reason everyone in the city can get such good fish is because the strip always gets fresh shipments. The one thing we miss is Korean food. Although the suburbs have pretty standard hours, having the strip only minutes away from most places in the city means you can find something to do at any time.
Summers are definitely brutal in Vegas, but Fall, Winter, and Spring are great. Most of the time we have our windows open during the good months!
A city that has diverse demographics means we get to interact with people from different backgrounds every day. It also means that there is more diversity in food and perspectives.
The number one reason why we left Las Vegas after our first round was because the summer was brutal. I told Jacob that we will not survive another summer here. Evenings can get cooler, but for the most part, it is still hot — you just get relief from the sun. We were in degree weather recently and needed a light jacket while everyone around us was wearing t-shirts and shorts. Local Tip: Luckily, there are plenty of indoor activities to do in the summer!
There are landscaped lawns, and surprisingly a decent number of golf courses, but after a while, you start missing the trees if you grew up anywhere other than the desert. Local Tip: A good fix for this is a short weekend trip! You have to keep moisturized and humidifiers are a must.
They had a scorpion infestation outside their home and they started to get inside too. She even got stung in bed! Technically there is a bus system, but we miss the convenience of the subway in NYC. Vegas is purely a driving city and a car is a must. They had an amazing hockey season that made the city go wild and the Raiders are now in town. Now we just need a pro baseball and basketball team. There are also less traditional sports like UFC and e-sports that often come to town.
Because Las Vegas is a transient city, people are less invested in getting to know you and vice versa. Las Vegas is relatively small. We live on the southeast side and can get across town in ish minutes.

Employees can work shifts at all hours of the day and night and on weekends and holidays. The hour nature of the city is a plus when it comes to the convenience of going where you want at any time, but it can be a burden when it comes to working hours.
People with allergies and some older people move to Las Vegas specifically for the warm and dry environment, but the truth is that during the summer months, it can be downright impossible to leave the house. The heat is unbearable and difficult for people with some health problems, those that take certain medications and small children.
No one can live without air conditioning in their homes or cars, and no one leaves the house without a bottle of water and a can of sunscreen. Many residents will say they could not survive without a pool. In the summer months, a pool that is not heated can get as high as 95 degrees just from the sun shining down on it. That brings up one more plus, no need to spend the money to heat your pool.
And with the housing costs being so reasonable, adding the cost of a pool to your home will not break the bank. Winter is sometimes non-existent in Las Vegas, so if you are someone who enjoys a white Christmas, then you are in the wrong place. The average low temperatures in Las Vegas is 58 degrees in January and December, and those are the coldest months.
There is a running joke that there are no seasons in Las Vegas because spring and fall have very similar temperatures, winter is not very cold, and summer is incredibly hot.
So, no changing of the leaves or snowmen in your future if you live in Las Vegas.
