Top Voted Answer. You unlock it after you beat Piccolo however you cant transform during story battles because it does it for you during those fights like in fights with Omega. You have to wait until those fights have the villian reduced in health and then it will have a cut scene which will turn you super ssj. In other battles you can transform at will once you beat Piccolo like fights on the map or training fights.
