I don't even need to use it with any other products.
I will say that if you use too much you WILL have crunchy hair. I learned this the hard way, when I first used it. I was so used to having to use a TON of product that I made my hair super crunch. It took me a few times to figure out the perfect amount for my hair. This stuff isn't a gel or a cream or a mousse. It is more like a sticky glue type of thing. I start by squirting 2 pumps into my hands and rubbing them together, and then working them through my whole head- but going easy at the roots.
Then I use one more pump and work it through the lower part of my hair. Dry with a diffuser and bam! Awesome curls! I have told several curly haired friends about this product and all of them that have tried it- are hooked! Soft, not sticky. Rinses off hands quickly and easily. Definitely improves and enhances curls. Doesn't seem to offer any hold, however if it enhances the curl, it will hold the natural shape. It's ok. I used a diffuser and finger styled. Not bad, but I've had better.
I have a perm so after washing m hair I put some in my hand, rub them together and scrunch my curls. It helps with the curl and is not stiff and heavy weight. I usually shampoo and add a quarter size amount and emulsify in my hands then add to the ends of hair then work my way up to the mid shaft by scrunching in product. I use this on damp hair and scrunch with my hands.
I sometimes blow dry as I scrunch and the waves that result are so beachy and natural looking. My hair is always so soft when I use it too. I purchased several different styling products for curly hair when there was a sale, and this one is by far my favorite! I've learned less is more. If you use too much, your hair will be stiff and wet looking.
My recommendation is to get about a half a pump my hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders in length and then add a little water to your hands, rub it together and apply to your hair. This is the absolute best product I have found for my curly hair. I have 3C type curls and use this throughout my hair without any other product.
