Shade robes do not make you invisible or semi transparent. That would be the Ghostly Robe Set. What are they? A set of robes very similar to monk's robes. They give 1 less prayer bonus 5 top, 4 bottom; monk's gives 6 top, 5 bottom , but can be stored in your POH. How do you get them? By killing shades. Up until this week, shades were a relatively rare random event that occurred only when burying multiple bones.
The shade would appear and attack you; if killed, it occasionally would drop either a top or a bottom. However, with the random event update, this was discontinued; shades are now a monster on the bottom level of the Stronghold of Security.
What's so good about them? I suppose some might think they're cool because they're moderately scarce, but that's about it. Ghostly Robes are a full set - top, bottom, boots, cape, hood, gloves - and boost magic rather than prayer. As others have noted, they do NOT make you invisible or transparent. Only Ghostly Robes do that. Oh yeah, sorry about that, just remembered. I have shade robes in the bank and forgot they dont make you transparent. Shades as a random event are discontinued,but you can still kill them on the 4tn floor of the Stronghold of Security. One of their possible drops are shades robes,so shade robes arent discontinued. No, Teh. I believe you can still pick them from Strange Plants found in Brimhaven, and the Stranger Plant familiar forages these. And they're not quite the same. Shade robes go perfectly with the grim reaper hood, but dark wizard robes are just a shade lighter, more greyish.
